Welcome, Prospective Apprentice!

Legacy Farms is a supportive, real-world training environment for neurodivergent individuals who want to grow personally and professionally through hands-on garden work.

You may be a good fit if you are:

  • Transitioning from school, therapy, or supported programs into the general workforce

  • Curious about gardening and farm work

  • Experienced in work or school and ready to focus on personal development

  • Looking to build vocational and professional skills in a calm, understanding environment

You do not need prior work or garden experience. You do need a willingness to learn, reflect, and grow.

We have a variety of opportunities with graduated levels of skills development, so we can meet you where you are. These include opportunities for individuals who have never held a job but want to learn, for neurodivergent individuals supplementing current jobs and/or college classes, and for paid positions.

Begin where you are, with time to learn about yourself as a worker and collaborative team member!

Our Approach

At Legacy Farms, job skills matter, but self-understanding comes first.

We focus on building:

  • Self-awareness

  • Self-regulation

  • Self-advocacy

These skills support success not only at the farm, but in future jobs, college, and community life. You’ll work alongside mentors in a structured yet flexible setting designed to help you learn about your strengths, understand challenges, and build confidence through meaningful work.

How THE PROGRAM Works

Legacy Farms follows a 7-step, train-to-work process tailored to each apprentice’s needs and goals. Progression is based on readiness, not speed.

Mentorship & On-the-Job Learning

You’ll work alongside trained mentors and fellow apprentices as we:

  • Grow and care for flowers and prepare floral products

  • Prepare orders for bouquet subscription members, partners, and markets

Mentors provide real-time coaching focused on communication, regulation, flexibility, and independence.

Building Workplace Skills

All apprentices practice core skills needed for competitive employment, including:

  • Arriving on time

  • Managing breaks

  • Following task lists

  • Cleaning up shared workspaces

  • Navigating challenges thoughtfully

  • Working respectfully with others

You’ll also learn basic organizational skills such as time-tracking and reflection using our LifeSherpa app.

Looking Ahead

We regularly review goals and progress to help plan next steps. This may include:

  • Continued work at Legacy Farms

  • Support transitioning to other jobs

  • Resume and application assistance

When available, apprentices may explore additional opportunities such as:

  • Floral production workflows

  • Blog writing or photography

  • Event support

  • Partner business placements

Our goal is to match your strengths with real opportunities for growth.

Sample Garden Tasks

  • Planting and harvesting
