Legacy Farms Virginia

Legacy Farms at Temple Hall Farm has researched many successful farms such as Bittersweet Farms and Innisfree Village as well as other agriculturally based vocational organizations and concluded that to best serve our community, we will focus predominately on providing both a learning facility and a place where we can advocate for more resources here in Loudoun County. A place to teach and a place to learn.

During our research period, we met some amazing people doing incredible things and felt it was important to bring these same ideals to Loudoun County.

Johnathon Hall of Quincea introduced our team to the term Green Care and defined it as, "... an agrarian employment based social enterprise that provides vocational training, along with support services for targeted vulnerable population groups.  The vulnerable groups traditionally range from those persons with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, disaffected young people, and persons currently in a recovery program."

Green care is the use of agricultural farms and the biotic and abiotic elements of nature for health and therapy-promoting interventions as a base for promoting human mental and physical health, as well as quality of life.

For us, the idea just made sense!

But we also seek to be more than just a place to learn, we want to provide real answers to the employment problem that plagues adults with autism...

A social venture is an undertaking by an organization established by a group of social entrepreneurs that seek to provide systemic solutions and achieve a sustainable, social objective. That objective is to put the skills we teach to work in the agricultural industry of Northern and Central Virginia.

Therefore, by becoming a "Green Care Social Venture" we are able to provide a viable vocational solution to those in need.

There's much more to what we do and many of those we have served open up and become different people while working in the garden, as well as those who volunteer and teach.
